Ok, so I fell off the wagon. Haven’t hit my weekly goal for blogging. Let’s see; had enough time? Check. Had working computer? Check. Had motivation? Hmmnh…
My lifelong dream of having nothing but time to write has temporarily been realized and what have I done? I have visited friends, I have enjoyed the summer sunshine, I have spent time with my son. I have cleaned closets and worked in the yard. I have sat on my front porch watching the clouds go by for more hours than I am willing to admit. I have edited my soon to be published story for hours at a time. But writing-- I am trying. I keep typing and words appear, just not sure if it constitutes writing or not. I met someone recently who said, "I write everyday and have been for years. Just rants and raves mostly." When I asked what he did with his writing he replied, "Nothing." "There are people that will want to read it," I said, "You may never know the impact that your words have on others, but it may be just what they need at the moment." Physician, heal thyself! Writing is a gift. It might not be Pulitzer Prize worthy, it might not be grammatically correct, but it might just be the words that someone needs to hear or you desperately need to say. If the words do not flow, take a break. If they seem to have disappeared from inside you, they haven’t. Feed your soul and rest your mind. When you are ready, they will be waiting
