The Wedding
4/30/2011
I would be remiss to blog about Romance and not mention “the wedding.” I put my cynicism in a little box yesterday and allowed myself to be swept away by the fairytale that is William and Kate. The pageantry, the splendor- the hats! It was truly a remarkable event. What struck me the most was their easy and obvious camaraderie. It seemed as though they were constantly communicating with one another even when their eyes were focused straight ahead. Without sounding too altruistic, it was also nice to see the world united for something other than a crisis. It reminds me that love is universal; it is what connects us to one another and that deep down inside everyone wants to believe.

The Royal Wedding was incredibly well done. It is something that we Brits are exceptionally good at, ceremonial theatre. That William has had so much sorrow in his life and that, as he has said 'My life was planned for me before I was even born' it is a good thing that he does seem to have found a real companion for his journey to the throne. However, the real star of the day was Kate's sister, Pippa. Apparently Twitter crashed for a while under the weight of all the Tweets wanting to know who she was! Quite a few fantasies, both male and not a few female about her that day ;-)
