Recently I had the opportunity to spend a couple of weeks in Paris. A vivid imagination can often lead to disappointment for nothing seems quite as fabulous as you have imagined it. Paris was so much better than I had dreamed it would be. The art, the architecture, the style—the pastries! What struck me most was that everywhere you looked you knew you were in Paris. Every experience was a feast for the senses and love was in the air-or at least lust. Couples everywhere embraced without regard to the throngs of envious tourists. Of course, at every turn there are nude lovers caressing one another; in the paintings, the sculpture, an open window ;-) The bedroom doors are wide open in Paris and they embrace sensuality. There is no shame, no guilt, and no attempt to hide it. For some that might make it less appealing, for others it is a catalyst to freedom. This wooden sculpture was prominently displayed in a shop window for all to see. Just like Paris- if you were simply passing through you might have missed it, just a dusty piece of wood. However, if you embraced the cumulative desire of all the lovers surrounding you, the intensity of the need refused to be denied. In America the media would have converged and the shop owner would have been sued. How sad that something as beautiful and natural as desire should be objectified as ‘dirty”. Embrace your desire with the doors and windows open. Figuratively speaking of course! (or not;-)) ![]()
